AWOL Vision LTV-3500 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector
Initially launched on Indiegogo, the $5499 AWOL Vision LTV-3500 [manufacturer’s link] [available at Amazon] triple-laser ultra short throw projector is rated 3500 ANSI lumens, making it one of the brightest UST projectors on the market today! It’s 3D-capable (with optional active shutter 3D glasses and a source such as 3D Blu-ray), runs on the Android 9.0 operating system, and uses the Texas Instruments 0.47″ DMD chip together with a tri-chroma pure laser light source (no color wheel) to produce an amazing 80″ – 150″ diagonal image that reaches 107% of the Rec.2020 color space. That’s more than one billion colors!
Includes an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max which hides inside stealth TV stick pocket on projector (takes up one of the three HDMI inputs). Input lag is 30ms with 4K and 17ms with 1080p in Game Mode. 25,000+ hour laser life. Electric focus. 8-point keystone correction. Dolby Vision is currently in beta. HDR 10+, HDR10, and HLG. 18-watts x 2 stereo speakers. Connectivity includes 3 HDMI with eARC on HDMI 2 input, 2 USB, Ethernet, optical audio output, A/V input. Wi-fi and Bluetooth. IR/Bluetooth remote control included. Projector dimensions are 23.6″ wide, 13.9″ deep, and 5.7″ high, and it weighs 27 pounds.
For a 100″ diagonal image/screen, the projector should sit about 9.8″ from the projection surface on top of a stand that supports the 13.9″ depth of the projector and extends to at least 23.7″ from the projection surface, and the bottom of the image/projection screen surface will be about 15.1″ above the surface where the projector sits.
AWOL Vision offers four models of optional Ambient Light Rejecting (ALR) wall-mounted fixed-frame 16:9 projection screens to choose from which each offer significant contrast improvement over standard matte white screens. The ALR D-100 100″ diagonal Daylight Screen [manufacturer’s link] is designed to be used in a living room daylight environment so it features a Fresnel lens structure PET material which rejects 85% of top and side light, higher 1.1 dB gain, and 90° viewing angle. The ALR C-100 100″, ALR C-120 120″, and ALR C-150 150″ diagonal Cinematic Screens [manufacturer’s link] are designed for darker rooms with less ambient light, reject 95% of ceiling light (not side light), and feature 0.6 dB gain and super wide 170° viewing angle. AWOL Vision LTV-2500 4K Triple Laser UST Projector (and Screen Bundles)
The $3499 AWOL Vision LTV-2500 [manufacturer’s link] [available at Amazon] UST projector has all the same features of the LTV-3500 above, except that its brightness is rated only 2000 ANSI lumens, making it a more affordable yet still full-featured solution for those who will be setting it up for usage in a darker, light-controlled environment such as a dedicated home theater room. One advantage is lower power consumption compared to the brighter model.
